My name is Brecken, and I’m a missionary in Tijuana, Mexico with the organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Before having ever been to Mexico, God put this country on my heart, along with a desire to invest in the people and to partner with Him in the work He is doing there. While most people in Mexico have hear of the name of Jesus, there is a lack of personal relationship with Him and a heavy bondage of shame. I work a lot with the community in Zona Norte, which contains the biggest red-light district in all of North America. We have a family center located there, and I get to minister to many of the families and homeless people living in this area. A few times a month, I build houses for families in need with our ministry called Homes of Hope. Teams from all over the world come to our base to build a house, and as staff with YWAM, I have the role of facilitating and training teams in the building process. I also host teams that come to Tijuana on short-term missions trips. We train them and then take them to different ministries to serve and share the love of Jesus. In the three and a half years I’ve been serving in Mexico, it’s amazing to see the fruit that has come forth. While the need is still great, God is beginning to turn hearts in even the darkest of places. The power of prayer is so evident, and no one is too far for God to reach.
Be Light. Give Hope. Demonstrate God’s Power. Celebrate God’s Presence.
